Rasiak -First Bolton Goal

On-loan striker Grzegorz Rasiak scored his first goal in Bolton colours at home to Sunderland tonight as the reserve team recorded their first win at this level since they won the championship at the back end of last season.

Southampton front man Rasiak scored the all important goal late on in a game which saw both sides field a number of experienced players at the request of the respective managers.

Both Gary Megson and Roy Keane where interested spectators in Leyland with the two managers looking to see at what level the players on the fringes of their first team squad where at.

The first half was one to forget, although the visiting Black Cats where unfortunate not to have taken the lead when transfer listed midfielder Liam Miller struck a post.

Ex-Arsenal reserve Anthony Stokes also had a couple of chances which the Bolton defence cleared at the last moment, whilst at the other end Ricardo Vaz-Te was foiled by Sunderland keeper Trevor Carson.

Ex-Sunderland midfielder Gavin McCann joined Andranik Teimourian, Blerim Dzemaili and James Sinclair in peppering the visiting goal in the second half but only Newcastle-born Sinclair could force a save out of Carson.

Rasiak had a chance cleared off the line before finally breaking the deadlock in the 83rd minute to enhance his chances of a more prominant first team place.
