Davies Encouraged By Bolton Display

Kevin Davies was encouraged with the Bolton Wanderers performance over Manchester United despite the Trotters going down by a 2-0 scoreline against the Champions at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Davies was named as Bolton's captain in the absence of the injured Kevin Nolan and the striker feels that the side can take a lot of heart out of their latest display.

Even though they are still without a win in five league games the Wanderers had their fair share of opportunities and possession against Sir Alex Ferguson's team - including two disallowed goals involving El-Hadji Diouf and Stelios Giannakopoulos.

This is something which Davies views as a positive and the ex-Southampton man wants the team to build on their United trip when Manchester City come to the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.

"We created chances and think we can take a lot of heart from the second half, but we are disappointed that two set pieces have undone us" said Davies when reflecting on events against the Red Devils 

"Teams don't get many chances at Old Trafford, but the keeper has made a couple of good saves and we tried hard to get back into the game and we know that we can take some positives out of the match."

"Now we are focused on Saturday and the visit of Manchester City, we need to use the match at Old Trafford and build on that."

City have beaten Bolton on two occasions this season, in the league and Carling Cup, so some three points this weekend would be the perfect time to claim revenge.
