A number of reports have suggested that Greek defender Traianos Dellas has held talks over a possible move to Bolton Wanderers following the expiry of his contract with the Italian giants A.S Roma.

Dellas, the scorer of the winning goal for Greece during their unlikely Euro 2004 truimph in Portugal, is said to be ready to undergo a medical with Bolton despite the fact that a number of clubs across Europe are chasing his signature.

All summer long the 29-year old has been linked to various teams, so it comes as no surprise that Bolton's name should come into the reckoning as Sam Allardyce is a long term admirer of the player and is in need of desperate recruitment in defence after a summer re-shuffle.

The 6ft 4" centre half is said to be keen on returning to England where he previously had an ill-fated spell at Sheffield United between 1997 and 1999. That said, he has since gone on to make a name for himself in Italian football, most notably with Perugia and Roma.

Meanwhile Bolton have confirmed that a deal with Mexican striker Jared Borgetti is not yet sealed, despite reports coming from South America which are claiming otherwise.
