Fish Trials With Ipswich

Former Bolton Wanderers defender Mark Fish is on trial with Ipswich Town after being told that he can leave Charlton Athletic on a Free Transfer.

The experienced South African will link up with Ipswich for their friendly against Colchester United tommorow evening, and could be given a contract by Joe Royle if he manages to impress sufficiently in that game.

Fish 31, was a firm favourite with the Bolton supporters for four seasons before going back on his word and snubbing a three-year contract in favour of a move to the Premiership with Charlton in November 2000.

Initially, the former Lazio star was a regular at The Valley but an accident at home last year whilst playing with his son kept him out of action for a lengthy period of time.

In the summer he mutually agreed to end his stay with the Addicks following talks with Alan Curbishley and was recently linked with a move to Brighton.
