Bolton winger Khalilou Fadiga has given Sam Allardyce another headache to deal with after being ruled out for up three weeks with a knee injury.
The experienced Senegalese international has been receiving treatment on the injury this week, and is expected to be ruled out of contention until the start of September.
This will come as a huge blow to Allardyce who has already seen his squad thin on the ground due to a number of departures in the close season, thus forcing him to rely on some of the Academy youngsters in the friendlies.
The boss was understandably disappointed to lose the former Auxerre player at such a key stage of the preparations.
"The injury will take two or three weeks to clear up. That is really disappointing." he said
