Bolton reserves where left looking for their first FA Premier Reserve League win of the season as Everton came out victorious courtesy of a single goal at the County Ground last night.

A goal by Toffees midfielder Alan Kearney just two minutes into the game did all the damage against a very determined yet inexperienced Wanderers team, with some of whom making their first ever appearances for the second string.

In the first attack of the game Kearney, who is the son of the former Bury and Mansfield player Mark Kearney, fired into the roof of the net following a neat lay off by forward Victor Anichebe.

Bedi Buval had a couple of chances to bring Bolton back on level terms but a good save from John Ruddy and the foot of the post denied him his first goals of the new campaign.

Wanderers defender Danny Stott then scrambled the ball off the line after an Everton attack had caused panic in the area. The Bolton-born full back will have done his chances of a more regular place at reserve level no harm at all with this performance.

The second half saw a much more spirited Bolton team but, as with the first team fixture against the Toffees a few weeks ago, they could not turn their effort into goals.

Buval, Robert Sissons, Matt Cassidy and Johann Smith all wasted chances to equalise in the final quarter as the young Trotters continued their stuttering start to the Reserve League campaign.
