Bolton Wanderers youth academy coach Peter Farrell is one of a number of names being linked with the vacant managers job at Lancashire rivals Bury.

Farrell has been an integral part of the Wanderers youth set-up for the past seven years and has helped the likes of Kevin Nolan, Nicky Hunt and Joey O'Brien progress up to the first team ranks.

The Liverpool-born coach knows Bury well having played just over 50 games as a winger for the Shakers in the mid to late 1970's when they where mostly under the guidance of the late Bob Stokoe who died last year.

Former Manchester United player Chris Casper is currently in temporary charge at Gigg Lane following Graham Barrow's sacking earlier this week, but ex-Bury players Paul Hilton, Sammy McIlroy and Ronnie Jepson have all been strongly linked to the post.
