Mexican striker Jared Borgetti will stay and fight for his place at Bolton Wanderers despite finding himself out of the first team reckoning in recent games.

The 32-year old Confederations Cup star cost a fee in excess of £1 million when moving to the Lancashire club from Pachuca in the summer but he has yet to start a Premiership game despite scoring four goals in the cup competitions.

Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce recently described the South American as the most frustrated player at the club but Borgetti says he will keep plugging away ready to take any chances that come his way.

"I'm calm because I think that the time I was needed I played well. Obviously, if I'm sad it's because I'm not playing. I'll stay here and keep training until I play. Going back to Mexico has never been in my head." said Borgetti to Televisa Deportes.

Bolton too have also put the block on any exit for the striker in the January transfer window with Allardyce looking for importation rather than exportation to his current squad.

"We lose five players to the African Nations Cup, so we wonít be able to transfer one out, We would be cutting our throat at that particular time, if we tried to do that." remarked Allardyce
