Adams Backs Nolan For England Call

Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams feels that an outsider has every chance of making their way into Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad for this summers World Cup.

Sixty six times capped Adams beleives that Bolton skipper Kevin Nolan has to be in the frame to make the final squad after having had a successful season bossing the midfield at the Reebok Stadium.

Adams remembers back ten years ago to the successful Euro 96 campaign at Wembley when coach Terry Venables had to decide between Blackburn Rovers star Alan Shearer and former Wanderer Les Ferdinand, then of Newcastle United.

"It's important all positions are covered well and I'm sure there is still time for some people to force their way in. So much can happen - I remember Alan Shearer was not selected, for the team at least, until just before Euro 96 as Les Ferdinand was also an option. At the moment Kevin Nolan must be in with a shout the way he is playing at Bolton - he has had an exceptional season." said Adams
