Gibbs Snubs Bolton Move

Premiership rivals Charlton Athletic have beaten the Wanderers in the race to sign highly rated USA international defender Cory Gibbs.

Gibbs has just completed his contract with Dutch side Den Haag and will now move to The Valley for next season, but the centre half has since revealed that Bolton, amongst others, had been pursuing his signature recently.

"In the past week I've received interest from Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers, Reading and Charlton," Gibbs told the Charlton official website.

"Playing Premiership football has always been my dream and I was flattered to have such options. I am joining a club that is ambitious and hungry for success. I was hugely impressed with the chairman, Richard Murray, and his ambitious plans for the continued development of the club."

Back in March the Bolton manager Sam Allardyce confirmed that some American players where of interest to him and names such as World Cup stars Josh Wolff and Steve Cherundolo where in the frame to move to the Reebok Stadium.
