Johnson Linked With Club Record Move

Bolton Wanderers could be about to launch a club record £7 million swoop for Crystal Palace and England goal getter Andy Johnson..

The 25-year old has been heavily linked with moves to Everton and Wigan Athletic recently after Palace failed to cement their place in the Play Off Final and now it seems as if Allardyce is also in the running to sign the player if speculation is to be beleived.

Johnson is currently on standby with the England World Cup squad and the Daily Mirror newspaper is claiming that the former Birmingham City star may hold talks with the Trotters upon his return to the UK.

In the 2004-2005 season the Bedford-born striker was a leading light in the Crystal Palace team which so nearly performed an end of season relegation escape. His twenty one league goals during that campaign made him one of the most sought after players in the top flight.

Meanwhile the Wanderers are beleived to be closing in on the signing of the former Manchester United star Quinton Fortune following his release from the Old Trafford club earlier this month.
