Premiership rivals Wigan Athletic are set to add former Wanderers defender Mark Seagraves to their coaching staff later this week.

Seagraves played in the same Liverpool youth team as current Latics manager Paul Jewell twenty five years ago and the pair have remained good friends ever since despite taking different career paths.

The 39-year old moved to Bolton from Manchester City in September 1990 and served the club in over 150 games right up to their promotion to the Premiership five years later.

He moved to Swindon Town as a player-coach under Steve McMahon and this partnership was reunited at Blackpool a couple of years ago as Seagraves was named as the assistant to McMahon at Bloomfield Road.

In between his coaching spells he still turns out for the Wanderers Masters team every summer as does David Lee who is also on the coaching staff at Wigan.
