Bent sold for 2.5million

Marcus Bent has signed for Charlton from Everton for 2.5 million pounds. The deal is yet to be oficially announced but it is expected to be announced tomorrow. Bent has been linked with the Addicks for months now and it appears a deal has finally been done.

Bent has failed to make the same impact this season as he did last, scoring only 1 goal against Bolton all the way back in August. Bent has seen James Beattie, Duncan Ferguson and James McFadden all rise above him the ranks at Everton and now feels it is time to move on.

It represents a great bit of business for Everton having signed Bent for just 450k 18months ago. Bent has only scored 8 goals in his time at Everton but his contribution last season in helping them finish 4th was huge and will not be forgotten by most Evertonians.

This deal must surely mean David Moyes must have a replacement lined up in the next few days.
