A few days ago, Christian Klien was informed by BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen that he is to support the BMW Sauber F1 Team in 2008 as official test and reserve driver. The Austrian looks forward to helping the Munich and Hinwil based squad.
Christian, who celebrates his 25th birthday today, expects another
exciting top-class season at the pinnacle of motor racing, and he is
fully committed to the BMW Sauber F1 Team's official goal for the 2008
season.
"We want to celebrate our maiden Grand Prix win in 2008," says
Christian. "The competition between the four top teams will be as tough
as it was in the recent past and I expect the BMW Sauber F1 Team to be
a key factor when it comes to providing Formula 1 fans all around the
world with another thrilling season. It is most definitely one of the
best teams."
Christian also wants to contribute to the realisation of the ambitious
season target - even as reserve driver, should one of the team's GP
regulars, Nick Heidfeld or Robert Kubica, be forced to sit out one or
several races. Christian is of the opinion that the relatively short
distance of 100 kilometres between his residence in Switzerland,
Diepoldsau, and the team headquarters in Hinwil will turn out to be a
special advantage, for him. "It will offer me the opportunity to drive
to headquarters and cooperate closely with the team," he says.
