Particularly proud of Valencia

Despite having secured the BMW Sauber F1 Team's maiden Grand Prix win in Montreal, Robert Kubica has particularly fond memories of his performance in the European GP, held at the new "Valencia Street Circuit". To date, Robert can look back on a brilliant season.

A pole position, five podiums and, of course, his maiden win GP in Canada, all represent a truly impressive record for the 23-year old. When asked which race most satisfied him, Robert comes up with a slightly surprising response: "I have driven quite a number of good races," he says, "But the one in Valencia was the one where I delivered my best performance."

And indeed: in the highly acclaimed debut of the new street circuit by the Mediterranean Sea, Robert drove a perfect race. In qualifying he secured third position on the grid and in the race he defended this position with a flawless performance. For Robert, securing this result represented yet another cornerstone. Thanks to the sixth podium finish of his career, the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver had a total of 100 points under his belt - with just 34 races contested.

Nonetheless, Robert's 2008 season also comprises some race performances that failed to meet his own high expectations. "Three races proved to be disappointments," he admits. "At Budapest, I failed to overcome the tyre problems, at Hockenheim I had back luck with a safety-car period and at Silverstone I encountered an off-track moment due to aquaplaning." 

Even in these races, however, Robert succeeded in scoring points. Therefore, one thing can be taken for granted: in the five races remaining, the man from Krakow is going to deliver in fine style.
