By BMW Sauber F1 Team
September 27 2008
In the final practice session of the inaugural Singapore GP weekend, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld both successfully completed their preparations for qualifying and the race. Robert secured seventh on the time sheets, with Nick finishing 11th .
As was the case on Friday, the third practice session for the first
night race in the sport's history was held in dry, hot conditions, with
temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius.
Once again, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers encountered no problems
whatsoever and used the perfect conditions to complete their
preparations for the remainder of the weekend. With 13 minutes of the
session remaining, they had to temporarily abort their efforts,
following a crash involving Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella. It took
the marshals several minutes to remove the damaged car. Due to the
yellow flags, nearly everybody returned to the pits to wait for the
all-clear.
Subsequently, Robert and Nick both went out for a final stint and
succeeded in setting their personal best times. Robert crossed the
finish line in 1:45.425 minutes to secure seventh while Nick finished
11th, with a 1:45.689-minute lap.
In the qualifying session, starting at 22:00hrs local time (15:00hrs
BST), Robert and Nick will again try hard top secure promising
positions on the starting grid for the 800th Formula One World
Championship race.
