Brazil GP: BMW 4 & 9th in FP1 despite the rain

In the first practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld completed their scheduled preparation programme without experiencing any problems. However, occasional drizzle made the work of the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers slightly difficult.

The first practice session at Sao Paulo was held under overcast skies in unusually cool conditions, and despite a slight drizzle occasionally falling, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers successfully completed the programme scheduled for the Friday morning session.

Robert and Nick both set their personal fastest lap times early in the session, with Robert proving to be the faster of the BMW Sauber F1 Team pairing. The Pole completed a total of 24 laps and finished fourth on the time sheets, setting his personal best time of 1:12.874 minutes on his fifth lap.

Nick was the busier of the two team-mates. The German completed 28 laps and posted a personal fastest lap time of 1:13.426 minutes, thus finishing ninth. With 15 minutes remaining, Nick even went out on intermediates. However, the track wasn't wet enough and consequently the intermediates didn't offer him the chance of going faster than the drivers on dry-weather tyres.

In the second practice session, held from 14:00 to 15:30hrs local time (16:00 to 17:30hrs GMT), the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers will continue their preparation work for the remainder of the weekend.
