Kubica to be announced as Renault driver tomorrow?
By BMWF1Talk
October 5 2009
We hear that the word in the paddock is that current BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica is to be publicly named Renault driver as soon as tomorrow. Renault announced a few weeks ago that it would be revealing their 2010 Alonso replacement this week, and yesterday Toyota's dirrector Howett admitted that he feared they had just lost the "battle" to get the Polish driver on board.
We shall see...stay tuned!
We will bring you updates as soon as more information emerges.
On a final note, we'd hope he remained in the team, but unfortunately the current situation of the team for 2010 doesn't look too good, and given the feelings after the 2008 missed championship, Robert was keen to look at options outside

I hope he will be happy at Renault and they can give him good car so he can be in top three F1 drivers or better next season. I wish him well.

Considering how close to season end we are and another delay in announcement... maybe it's that Renault is negotiating with Renault to release Kubica with immediate effecf to race for Renault in Brasil and Abu Dhabi? Grosjean is not doing Renault any favours so far and BMW does not really care about WDC standings in 2009 as they won't receive TV money anyway (not signing Concorde Agreement)
Considering no tests allowed before 2010, it would make sense for Renault to give Kubica any chance to try current car to give feedback to engineers as early as possible regarding 2010 car design.

Maybe he will have Villeneuve as his team mate. Wouldn't that be ironic.

now that would be funny. nick is surely great candidate but I think Renault should take someone whose driving style is close to Kubica/Alonso. that'll save them a lot of headaches

Barteks, that kind kind of disgusting comment in another forum would have edged you close to being banned...
Additionally I would say that Renault (or any other team) would rather have small drivers than tall ones, for simple engineering reasons, so don't see how come Nick's height would be a problem for anyone, even if his teammate was much taller.
I should ask u 2, are you for the kind of n2 driver style of Schumi-Ferrari or Alonso-Renault-Mclaren?
Seems you are afraid of Nick getting the same chances as Kubica?
lol
PS. According to that article Kub would decide on his signing depending of his teammate name (afraid of Kimi or Nick?) and his race engineers (seems he is trying to bring Toni Cuquerella)

I for example am not much bigger than Heidfeld, but I dont feel offended. Im bit like my new computer - not very big but extremely effective and quite impressive
Oh, and humble.

Guys, you didn't understand my post. BMW have had big problems during last 4 years because drivers were so different. Not only because of driving style but also due to different size. If Kubica goes to Renault and has another small team-mate then he's cooked. It's simply not possible to design a decent car in such a situation...
BTW. Gemm, is Nick taller than Bernie?

'Dwarf' driver will have no problem in car designed for Kubica. The will simply bring the pedals backwards and adjust his seating position if needed.
And if they bring Kubica as number 1 the car will designed around him.

Still no news. There is new hot rumour of RedBull signing Kimi and letting Webber go. Is this meaning last minute offer from Mclaren to Kubica. Or would they rather take Webber suddenly fre?

Say what you want but I'd like to see kubica in mclaren. Hamilton and Kubica would be a war, same as in the past ...
