Peter Sauber and his team look forward to welcoming royalty to the paddock at the Circuit de Catalunya: the King is on his way – the Burger King, to be precise. Burger King Spain and the Formula One team have forged a partnership for the Barcelona and Valencia Grand Prix.

“We are proud to be appearing in Spain alongside the global brand of Burger King,” said Peter Sauber. “In Formula One, the vast restaurant chain sector has hardly been tapped.”

The quick service restaurant chain’s logo will appear on the side and nose of the C29 monocoque at the two Formula one events held in Spain.

Elías Díaz Sesé, Burger King® Iberia General Manager, commented: "To become Official Partner of such an established Formula One team allows us to share values such as passion for constant evolution, maximum quality in products and services and permanent innovation. An added benefit is the fact that you provide Formula One and Burger King fans with good times.”

He went on to say that "The presence of Pedro Martínez de la Rosa as a team driver is important, not only due to the fact he's Spanish, but also because he transmits certain values as a sportsman. His personality perfectly fits with the Burger King® brand philosophy: enthusiasm for his job, kindness, optimism, professionalism, and a whole-life dedication to his passion."

There will be an opportunity for photographers and TV crews in the Team Hospitality at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. The team will be honoured with the presence of his royal highness “The King” together with drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi and Team Principal Peter Sauber.

Nice one Wals.

Good to have a serious sponsor onboard. Confirms Jaime's news regarding the PdLR signing and the benefit PS hoped to gain from sponsorship in Spain. Hopefully they add more races.

Burger King spots are pretty funny too, I enjoy them:

Maybe fast foods can take on a whole new meaning. Lets hope so. They've had enough flame broiled engines.

2 races isn't much, but hey it's a start. Nice to see SOMETHING on the car for a change. Hopefully it will get the ball rolling for Peter.

I'm really pleased, especially for the guys in the team. Sponsors has been my greatest concern in the last months, not so much for the survival of the team this year, but because I knew it's something that will make the difference between developing well or not the car.

Specifically about this sponsor, I can say I'm positively surprised. I hadn't had previous warning that the 'King would be joining, partly because I'm forced to be a bit disconnected of F1 as of late due to other life stuff, but I did know there were on going discussions with a few parties, in the Spanish market.

It's a pity that the sponsorship is coming from the Spanish subsidiary and not from the central of the company. However I wouldn't discard that bosses back at US could be positively impressed and decided to upgrade the sponsorship package, extending it to the rest GP's.

Finally, I find it ironic that Burger KIng decided to sponsor one of the slimmest driver line ups. Kobayashi is actually average, but Pedro is really slim (not anorexic thought!) and I can tell you from an excellent source that more than once has Pedro skipped meal for keep working with the engineers, and in general tends to prioritize work over food...although incidentally that would actually make fast food suit him! Though this year he was correcting that attitude, I'm told.

I'll soon post some really funny pics of the event in the paddock with the drivers and the 'King. Worth seeing!
