Latics bid for Landzaat accepted.

Latics have had a bid for £2.3 million rated Dutch midfielder Denny Landzaat accepted by AZ Alkmaar, and the 30-year-old is expected in Wigan for talks next week.

Latics are up against Stuttgart, Levante and Espanyol for Landzaat, who helped AZ to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup two seasons ago, but manager Paul Jewell is confident of getting his man.

 

“He’s a player that I think can make a big impact at Wigan and I hope we can finalise the deal.

 

Jewell added: “I don’t want to say anything more at this stage, only to say we are very hopeful Denny will become a Wigan Athletic player in the near future.”

 

Landzaat is AZ’s captain and scored 10 goals for the Eredivisie side last term.
