I was going to make a bit effort today and try to write a really good piece for you all today to make up for the drivel I’ve been writing, but nothings really happened in the news concerning Wigan today so you’ll have to put up with the same rubbish as usual.

Newcastle have reiterated that James Milner is going nowhere. We knew that but due to the lack of other news I thought I’d mention it anyway. Shame really, I would’ve liked to see James Milner in a Wigan shirt.

Apparently Bryan Robson has said The Duke doesn’t want to come back to Wigan. Robbo, a bloody good player but a crap manager in my humble opinion said

" I spoke to Nathan a few days ago and he is determined to be a very successful West Brom player,”

"He is determined to win the fans over and get back to what he is best at, scoring goals. Nathan is right up for the new season."

Give him a chance Robbo and he will, play him as a sub and he won’t. The Duke is a confidence player and if he doesn’t get a run in the team and feel wanted then he won’t do what you want and you might as well flog him somewhere that he is appreciated like Wigan. The Duke was one of the best players I’ve seen in a Wigan shirt and if he’d stayed I think, with Roberts he would have been a massive success last season. That’s ancient history now and Roberts has gone so we’ll never know. Out of interest has anybody heard The Duke say all that or are we just taking Robbo’s word for it? Hmm.

I see Neil ‘Bomber’ Roberts has been made club captain for Wrexham this season. I always had a lot of time for Roberts, he wasn’t the most gifted player but he always gave it his all. Best of luck to ‘Bomber’.

Four Wigan players have been called up for International duty, with the possibility of two more. Six players called up for internationals. SIX Wigan players. Blimey, it wasn’t that long ago I’d get excited about Roy Carroll getting called up and never playing. To think, some might even play as well. Six I tell you, how times change eh?

Out of interest, does anybody know which premiership club has got the least internationals? I would look but I can’t be arsed. Answers on the message board if you know. Cheers
