Latics fail to sign my grandad

Bradford city have confirmed that Latics made a deadline day bid for their 198 year-old striker Dean Windass.

Latics manager Paul Jewell signed the 37 year-old from Oxford United when he was manager of Bradford, but the Bantams blocked the latest bid as they see him as an important player in their promotion plans.

 

"Wigan contacted me with an offer which I turned down," the chairman of the League One side, Julian Rhodes, told The Telegraph & Argus on Wednesday.

 

The offer was believed to be in the region of £500,000.
