Roberts will not miss League Cup Final

Jason Roberts will not miss the Carling Cup final, despite seeing red against Everton, as the re-arranged game against Tottenham Hotspurs will be included in his ban.
A rather bad tempered affair was sullied, firstly by Duncan Ferguson chinning Paul Scharner for no discernible reason, then Roberts elbowing David Weir – both actions deserving of a straight red in the referees eyes.
Everton dominated the opening exchanges, and they took the lead on nine minutes when David Thompson got the final touch under pressure from Leon Osman after Stephane Henchoz deflected Tim Cahill's shot, and the ball trickled into his own net.
Mike Pollitt then saved James McFadden's near post shot before Cahill had a goal ruled out for offside.
Paul Scharner was on-hand however to turn in Pascal Chimbonda’s headed pass just before half-time for the equaliser.
Latics gained the ascendancy in the second half, and Roberts had the ball in the net on 69 minutes, but his effort was ruled out for a push on Alan Stubbs.

Rumours that one of the pubs adjacent to the ground suffered considerable damage after Everton fans went on the rampage, have not yet been proven.
