Latest Latics Transfer Speculation

West Brom have reportedly rejected a £10 Million bid for Zoltan Gera, Curtis Davis and Nathan Ellington.

Latics have already had a £1.75million bid for Hungarian playmaker Gera turned down by the Baggies.

 

Paul Jewell had been alerted by the news that Gera has reportedly told chairman Jeremy Peace and boss Bryan Robson that he wants to leave The Hawthorns and stay in England's top tier.

 

Both Peace and Robson have repeatedly insisted they do not need to sell their star players despite relegation to the Championship - and this week rejected a £1.4million bid from Watford for Paul Robinson.

 

According to The Guardian, Jewell has put £10million on the table for Gera, highly-rated centre-back Davies and former Latics striker Ellington, in a bid to test their resolve.

 

However Albion Chairman Peace said: “They are not for sale. We have made it clear since the day we new which division we would be playing in next season that it is our intention to strengthen the squad – not take it apart”.

 

 

James Milner

 

Talk of luring James Milner from Newcastle United has dissolved after Magpies boss Glenn Roeder revealed he wanted the 20 year-old to stay.

 

After a season out on loan at Aston Villa, it was thought that Roeder would be happy to sell the 20-year-old, but with Michael Owen's latest injury, the need to retain all attacking players at St James's Park has increased. 

 

 

Fitz Hall

 

According to The Wigan Evening Post, Latics have had a £3 million bid for Crystal Palace defender Fitz Hall accepted. He is set for talks with us when he returns from his holiday.

 

 

Nico Kranjcar

 

Whilst on Five-Live duty in Germany, Jewell and his side-kick Bill Green have been casting an appraising eye over Croatian midfielder Nico Kranjcar. The 21 year-old already holds 23 caps for his country and has scored three times whilst on international duty, and could be viewed as a possible replacement for Jimmy Bullard.
