Prepare to repel boarders! - Pirates have only lost once at Brickfields when they gained a narrow victory against us on Boxing day 2005. With both teams on a high it will come as a close derby match and hopefully a large gate as well.

Prepare to repel boarders!
Pirates have only lost once at Brickfields when they gained a narrow victory against us on Boxing day 2005. With both teams on a high it will come as a close derby match and hopefully a large gate as well. Last season the gate was lower than expected due to an international weekend and a change in the kick off time.
Pirates has been the largest gate over previous seasons lets hope it will be again. A target of 6,000 will not be amiss and you are advised to get there early to avoid queues at the gate. There are still tickets available at the gate or you could order by phone or internet and pick your tickets at the box office.
Ben Gulliver, who moved from Albion to Pirates on a two year deal and took the captain's role on the pitch for most of last season is yet to spend a single minute on the pitch.
Pirates top scorer is Jonny Bently on 34 points has played 4 full matches sits in 8th place in the league but sits behind our own Kieran Hallett who has scored 46 and third in the league.
Pirates have a better discipline record with Albion seeing one yellow and twice given away twice the number of penalties that have resulted in 3 points.
The biggest difference is that Pirates have gained 4 Ws against Albion's single W. This puts them in second place one point behind Bristol but with a better points difference. They will be looking at taking away a full 5 points as Bristol take on Chiefs on Sunday.

David has officiated at just one Championship match this season when Moseley travelled to play Pirates. Pirates had a convincing win but without a single penalty scored! We saw David three times last season at Brickfields against Manchester, Rotherham and Leeds he only went to his pocket once to sin bin Jon Skurr of Titans.
Visiting Brickfields
If you haven't been to Brickfields before you will be in for a friendly welcome from the club and the home support.
The ground is growing into a great stadium with plenty of food and beverage outlets to suit all comers. You can get anything from a chocolate bar to a four course sit down meal.

Current forecast is light rain showers with max daytime temp 15oC with brisk westerly winds up to 30mph.
Warriors
Warriors should have been playing Southend on Saturday in The Shield (formally Canterbury Shield) but they have had to pull out of the match due to illness and injuries.
Also Barking have pulled out of the league after only completing one fixture, against Devonport Warriors, so with other clubs completing three fixtures this weekend our Warriors will sit mid table with non played!
Not a good state to be in but we will be claming walk-overs for the two cancelled matches witch take us to top or near top.
Sunday will see a team travel to Redruth to play the 4th of 6 matches planned against the League One side. With the tally of two wins to Warriors against one to the hosts we will be looking to extend this to 3 - 1.
With a Sunday fixture it will give the chance for bench players from Saturday's fixture.
Ladies
Plymouth Albion Ladies on Sunday play their second match of the season as they take on Southampton based Trojans. In the first match of the season they played a strong Richmond side and made a good start with prop Vee Thompson going over for a try in the 4th minute of the match.
Unfortunately this was the only points scored by the hosts and the fitness of the visitors counted as they confirmed the 5 - 31 win with 3 tries in the last quarter.
They will be expecting a strong pack to make the trip down but Albion will be planning on using their mobility to come out on top.
With Rachel Hayes and Georgie Rozario, both internationals, not playing for Albion this season Head Coach Andy Demaine will be further hampered in the selection for this match as Leanne "OD" Odendall picked up a serious shoulder injury in the last play match against Richmond.
His numbers have thankfully been increasing with Plymouth and Exeter Universities returning. Some ladies have yet to play their 1st game of rugby but also more experienced players are up for selection.
Girls
Last week saw the girls send 14 girls to the Devon Trials and were very pleased to have 11 selected for the squad. This was the best result the club has had.
Kim Barber, Courtney Gill, Harriet Inglis, Kez Lee, Holly Molesworth, Ailish Sinclair, Jess Veacock and Tandiwe Wallace-Sims were all selected at U18 level with Melissa Leebody, Lydia Gannon and Louise Gardner selected for under 15 squad. They will be joined by Charlotte Holland who was at Kingsbridge but is now moving to Plymouth.
The girls have purchased two sets of shirts one for U15 and the other U18. This is an expense that they will need to recover the costs later in the season. Also without a grant for transport they need to find a sponsor to cover or help cover the costs. I someone knows of a firm that would be willing to come up with a four figure sum in exchange for their name/logo on the front of the shirts please let me know.

Well it’s the first time this season, the pirates travel up from Camborne. The Pirates are our friendly rivals from ‘over the Tamar’ and their supporters will be packing their flags and passports and crossing the Tamar to Fortress Brickfields. It’ll be a case of ‘Watch out Plymouth here come the pirates, last one out of Cornwall switch the lights off!
Last week Pirates played Coventry, winning by 20 to 14, this brings them to second in the table, one point behind Ex-premiership Bristol. Last season the Pirates were one of the most consistent teams and I think will be ‘knocking on the door’ of the premiership this season.
The Pirates will be fighting all the way, both Pirates and Albion supporters will be shouting from the terraces each hoping to capture the prize , for Pirates the win over their Devon rivals, for Albion a win over the Cornish cousins.
CD’s prediction – this is going to be a hard game – Pirates by 3 points, but think well get a Bonus points from it – I REALLY HOPE YOU PROVE ME WRONG ALBION !!

Albion to win by seven.
This to me is one of the best two games of the season the other one being our visit to Camborne.
