Backs |
||
| Jack Arnott (DR) Wing |
Returning DR | Featured in the first part of the season, but a shoulder dislocation early on has put paid to a large to his season. |
| Ben Axten-Burrett Centre |
Fell Through | Ben had been lined up for next season's campaign but ruptured cruciate ACL ligaments ruling him out for nine months. Having recently graduated from Cardiff Met, Ben has represented England Students. Tom & Ben depart, Ben Axten-Burrett to join The Video CV |
| Richard Bolt Scrum Half |
Confirmed Departure | As injuries hit elsewhere, the well travelled 25 year old was brought in from Exmouth to provide options at Scrum Half. 'Won an award' from his team-mates. |
| Tom Bowen Wing |
Confirmed Departure | Young player of the season last time, and top try scorer with 17, surely in contention for retaining the award. Would surely have been a target for a Premier side but Tom pulls a surprise out of the bag, signing for England 7s. Tom & Ben depart, Ben Axten-Burrett to join |
| Elliott Clements-Hill Full Back |
New Signing | A speciallist player in the Full Back position, Elliott had an exceptional season with Ampthill, topping the ND2S points standings by a country mile. |
| Rob Coote (DR) Scrum Half |
Departed DR | Made an appearance during a preseason friendly - now dualled with Pirates. |
| Declan Cusack Fly Half |
Confirmed Re-signing | Despite a frustrating start on the sidelines Declan has become top scorer whilst sharing the fly half duties with Dan. Agreed to a third season with Albion. Declan Signs |
| Rauiri Cushion Scrum Half |
Retained | Club captain and in his 5th season at Albion, Ruari has recently been coaching the Devon senior and U20 sides. Having previously indicating his retirement, Rauri will be staying on primarily in a coaching role. Rauri stays on |
| Jamie Davies Wing |
Confirmed Departure | Now returning to the fields Jamie suffered a frustrating season with injury limiting his appearances to 11. 'Won an award' from his team-mates. |
| Joshua Davies Scrum Half |
New Signing | A former Newport-Gwent Academy player, the 21 year old has 8 appearances and one try this season in the Welsh Premiership and represented Wales at Under 20s level. Three sign |
| Chris Elder Full Back/Centre |
Confirmed Departure | A regular feature at full back, has chalked up 27 appearances to date, crossing the line 7 times in the process. To JS's disappointment, moving on London Welsh. One in, one out, one stays put |
| Jake Henry Wing |
New Signing | England Student Winger at 22 joins from Cardiff Metroplitan RFC University has also represented Great Britain 7s 2 wingers and a lock Video - England Students highlights |
| Peter Homan Wing |
New Signing | Our second new signing for the wing follows Ted Stagg from London Scottish, having moved there last season from Rotherham. Scoring 2 tries from 8 appearances for Scottish, 3 of which were in the league. A loan spell with Blackheath provided another 4 outings. Peter will be looking for more game time. Can also play Inside Centre. 2 wingers and a lock |
| Toby Howley-Berridge Centre |
Confirmed Re-signing | Another regular of the season and has been solid at either 12 or 13. One of the first to commit to Albion colours for next season. Herald focuses on the positives |
| Mark Kohler Utility Back |
New Signing | The second new signing will be arriving from from Coventry. Eight tries this season and a regular for Cov, was previously at Bedford. Listed as a 'winger' elsewhere, signing as a utility back suggests a change in role. One in, one out, one stays put |
| Louis Messer Full Back |
Confirmed Departure | Louis has had a smattering of appearances this season with injury keeping him off the pitch. Now likely to have a season out of the game before he has a chance of playing again. |
| Dan Mugford Fly Half |
Confirmed Departure | Sharing the No 10 shirt with Declan, Dan has, of late, also been showing off his full-back abilities. Regretably he will be heading up country next season as he has signed for Nottingham. Dan moves to Nottingham as Albion sign Rayner |
| Pale Nonu Centre |
Confirmed Departure | The NZ veteran has been in and out of the side accruing 10 appearances. Looks set to be back coach at Launceston next season. |
| Lawrence Rayner Fly Half |
New Signing | To replace Dan Mugford, JS signs Old Albanian Lawrence Rayner on 1yr + option terms. Dan moves to Nottingham as Albion sign Rayner |
| Paul Rowley Scrum Half |
Confirmed Departure | Has shared the No 9 shirt with Rauri for much of the season, and whilst making 21 appearances, his non-eqp status has meant sitting out a few games of late. This however, should not be a problem next season he will qualify as a resident. Herald reports him as moving on. Almost done |
| Cameron Setter Scrum Half |
Confirmed Re-signing | Whilst making only 2 appearances in the B&IC and now one in the league, Cameron may well be hoping for more after he finishes his university course. Confirmed signing for next season. One in, one out, one stays put |
| James Shanahan Centre |
Contracted | Still pops up on the pitch every now and again. Our DoR has notched up 16 appearances and scored the only drop-goal to date. |
| Henry Slade (DR) Fly Half / Full Back |
Departed DR | Although dual registered, not unsurprisingly hasn't featured for Albion at all. |
| Heath Stevens Centre |
Confirmed Departure | After starting the first few weeks on the bench Heath has been the preferred partner to THB at centre. Sadly however his future now lies with Worcester after confirming his departure at the beginning of February. Heath Stevens to join Worcester Warriors |
| Lewis Warner Wing |
Confirmed Re-signing | A number of minor injuries has fragmented Lewis's appearances for Albion, but he has impressed JS enough to earn himself a new contract for next season. Lewis Warner and Eoghan Grace sign on for another term |
| Ben Woods Utility Back |
Confirmed Re-signing | The Irishman has featured frequently during the season, and whilst only scored twice, has secured his place in the squad for next season. Ben Woods signs |
Forwards |
||
| Ien Ascroft-Leigh Lock |
Confirmed Departure | Not quite first choice at lock, but definitely part of the main mix. Has already featured more often than last season and bagged three tries in the process. Herald reports him as moving on. Almost done |
| Brett Beukeboom Lock |
Confirmed Re-signing | A regular apart from an enforced lay-off and international duties and a key man in the squad. Having signed for a further term, is JS looking at more Canadians to join the squad? Herald focuses on the positives |
| Alistair Bone Back Row |
New Signing | Joing us from Loughborough, 'Boner' has previously played for Esher. Having studied Sports Management, he could bring something else to the club. Three sign The Video CV |
| Will Carrick-Smith (DR) Lock |
Departed DR | One appearance as a substitute in the B&IC - now Dualled with the Pirates. |
| Luke Chapman Prop |
New Signing | A product of Exeter's Academy, Luke has been on loan to Exmouth. With competition for the prop positions looking strong, this may be a signing looking forward to the future. |
| Luke Cowan-Dickie (DR) Prop |
Departed DR | In the running for the LV= Cup Breakthrough Player Award, unlikely we'll see Luke back next season as he cements his place in the Exeter squad |
| Tom Cowan-Dickie Hooker |
Confirmed Re-signing | Tom seems to have had a quiet season as injuries restricted him to a mere 3 appearances. However he has commited to Albion for next seasoon during which, now doubt, he will hope to prove himself. Three sign |
| Max Crumpton Hooker |
Loan | Seven appearances in an Albion shirt, has recently been turning out for Ealing. Signed for Bristol next season. |
| Gareth Evans Hooker |
Confirmed Departure | Leaving to focus on his military career. The multi-purpose forward will be missed. |
| Lloyd Fairbrother (DR) Prop |
Departed DR | A regular after a serious injury to the knee meant a late start to the season. Although hasn't played a full game of 80 minutes. Moving on to Newport-Gwent Dragons Thank you and Good-bye |
| Tom Fidler Prop |
New Signing | Bringing experience, the 27 year old joins Albion from Jersey where most of his 13 appearances was in the first half of the season. Previously, Tom has played for a number of clubs, including Cambridge where he enjoyed his most successful season. Albion Sign Two The Video CV |
| Eoghan Grace Back Row |
Confirmed Re-signing | Whilst clearly first choice at 7, injury meant an extended 3 month xmas break. Lewis Warner and Eoghan Grace sign on for another term |
| Romana Graham Lock |
Loan | Borrowed off Exeter to fill a gap, the Lofty New Zealander made 3 appearances before returning up the A38. |
| Iain Grieve Back Row |
New Signing | Now confirmed, we welcome a very experienced forward who has been with Bristol for 9 years. With SMS's retirement this is welcome news. Herald spots Albion faux pas |
| Tom Harrison Prop |
Confirmed Re-signing | A slow start to the season, Tom now regularly features at loose head, and pulled on the Barbarians shirt back in November. Almost done |
| Tom Heard Prop |
New Signing | Joing from Gloucester Academy, Tom has been dualled with Cinderford. |
| Tom Jubb Lock |
New Signing | Coming to Albion from Saracens, Tom had also been turning out for Bedford under the DR scheme although injury curtailed his season. Other honours include England U20s. Almost done |
| Rob Langley Flanker |
Confirmed Re-signing | Going to be a proper Albion player next season. 22 appearances and 5 tries has made himself a popular player winning the Albion's Player of the Season award. Needs to practice the innocent look after 2 yellows and a red. Will be missed for the remainder of the season after dislocating a shoulder. |
| Sam Matavesi Flanker |
Confirmed Re-signing | The Cornish Fijian has notched up 5 tries this season, but his newly acquired international status has limited him to 15 appearances at Albion. The surprise re-signing for next season as looked destined to move on - but a move is still on the cards as he is remoulded into a hooker. Sam extends contract |
| Davy McGregor Hooker |
Confirmed Departure | Davy seems to be have been working hard to find a role at the club other than in the running for the number 2 shirt. Has been coaching the ladies. 'Won an award' from his team-mates. |
| David Morton Prop |
Confirmed Departure | After 5 years at Albion, the former scottish U20 prop has decided to take a sabbatical. |
| Rhys Oakley Back Row |
Contracted | JS's second in command has obviously featured strongly in the appearance chart, crossing the line 4 times in the process. Halfway through 2-year contract. |
| Neale Patrick Lock |
New Signing | Former Rotherham player joins from the Pirates where he made 15 appearances last season. The 24 year old has represented Scotland in U18,19 & 20 levels including 2 World Cup tournaments. 2 wingers and a lock Video CV |
| Dan Pulliger (DR) Prop |
New DR | Joining from Exeter |
| Martin Rice Prop |
Unconfirmed Re-Signing | Having pulled his boots back on after an extended leave of absence, will Martin see next season as an opportunity to prove himself at full fitness? Somewhat uncommitted at present and certainly not available until November. |
| Ben Rogers Prop |
Confirmed Departure | Appearing regularly before Xmas, Ben has only made one appearance in 2014. Will be looking for more game time in Jersey next season. Tom & Ben depart, Ben Axten-Burrett to join |
| Jared Saunders Hooker |
Confirmed Departure | Brought in on loan towards the end of last season, Jared has signed for Bedford next season. |
| Matt Shields Prop |
Confirmed Departure | The former Nottingham player made 6 appearances at the start of the season but since then virtually unseen after Lloyd returned to the fold. Has been sent out on loan to Tynedale although returned for the B&IC fixtures and the final few league games. Signed for Darlington Mowden Park. Almost done |
| Sam Simmonds (DR) Back Row |
New DR | Joining from Exeter |
| Ted Stagg Hooker |
New Signing | The first new signing for 2014-15, Ted returns to Albion from London Scottish having previously played at Rotherham. Seen as a direct replacement for Gareth. The first new signing The Video CV |
| Sean-Michael Stephen Back Row |
Retiring | An ever present rock in the pack, SMS has served Albion faithfully for the last 6 years. Now confirmed that he is hanging up his boots and returning to Canada. A difficult player to replace and will be sadly missed. SMS announces retirement |
| Herbie Stupple Back Row |
Contracted | Another frustrating season for Herbie as a recurring ankle injury curtails his season to date. Despite being half-way through a 2-year contract, a return for 2014/15 looks unlikely. |
| Andrew Teidemann Prop |
New Signing | Brett gets a new playmate. Joining us from University of Victoria Vikes, Teidemann is due to earn his 27th cap for Canada. Seems to have wandered around a bit during his career including a brief spell at FC AuchGers. Seems he can also play at hooker. If the paperwork is OK he is expected join the squad late in August. Listed in the Canadian side as an Albion player You're so pretty, oh so pretty |
| Harrison Tovey Lock |
Confirmed Departure | Spent most of the season In and out of the squad as minor injuries have denied Harrison a lenghty stint. Scored 2 tries in 15 appearances. 'Won an award' from his team-mates. |
| Dan Williams Lock |
Confirmed Departure | A shoulder injury has kept Dan out of the side for the last few games, but before then was starting regularly. Unable to accept full time terms, Dan will be leaving for Newton Abbot. |
| Cameron Zeiss Prop |
New Signing | Returning to British shores after a very quiet spell at Tarbes in France, Cameron prevously played for Esher and Leeds. The prop can play on either side of the front row. Almost done |

Bad news about Chris and Dan, still if they are offered more money who can blame them.

Don't think it's about money in Dan's case .
More not playing at 10 , even though he took the 15 roll .
He is quickly replaced by a Nat1 10 who is highly rated .

Good luck to both players bit of a shame they are both going. Glad to see Bowen being given such a chance it will be great for him less so for us, be great to see him with a little side step he would definetly make it to international standard, the only thing that may hold him back is his size, he is not the tallest of players is he. Nonetheless good luck to him for the future.

Fantastic opportunity for Tom and a blessing that he won't be lining up against us next season.
Hopefully he will spare a thought for us when he picks up a Gold medal in Brazil.
Good Luck to him

Players who have inspired me throughout the season are still leaving.
Best of luck to Tom and Ben for next season.
Our Jersey trip still sits fondly in the memory - a wonderful Ireland, not a bad place for rugby.
Tom has scored some cracking tries this season. Hopefully he can carry it on in the colours of England. What a move.
Enjoy the journey guys.

Herald
Scrum half Josh Davies will be joining us from Neath and Back row forward Alistair Bone from Loughborough.
Welcome both.
Also Tom Cowan-Dickie joins Rob Langley as a proper Albion player signing a permanent contract - N1 Tom, you know it makes sense.
Leaving us it seems will be Pale Nonu who looks set to become Launceston's backs coach. Good luck to you.

Good news as per the above post from Igwok, also it's good the see that Mike Lewis will be the forwards coach at Lanson.
Just a hint of a whisper, or more ?, Ruairi could well be with Albion for one more year before he retires, top man and a gent.

Announced...
Tom Heard from Gloucester and Tom Fidler from Jersey will be joining Albion...
Herald Artcile
Another 3 will hopefully be announced in the next few days.
Added to the list of departures Harrison Tovey, Richard Bolt, Jamie Davies, Louis Messer and Davy McGregor.
Ien Ashcoft-Leigh didn't get an award last night so he's still hoping he's staying

Shanners' thinks he'll end up with 19 new signings. That means we can look forward to perhaps news of another four signings.
Will the incoming scrum coach be a player/coach?
There seems to be a new buzz about the club at the moment. Can't wait to see who is at the club when the players re-assemble on 9th June. (Several are already back and looking forward to the start of training with James Owen.)

Two more new faces to add to the mix according to the Herald.
On trial, Steve Uren, formally of Bristol and been playing recently in NZ, the 'Centre' has switched from the back row - which could be interesting.
Also, initially to provide cover for the injured Setter, Shannahan has brought in Jimmy Williams who having played for Jersey & Rotherham of late, but will be looking to have a break from rugby after this 'foray'.
