The Brickfields recently hosted the regional celbrations for the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Corps of Royal Marines in 1664. The series of concerts were a BIG job for the RM and the backroom and ground staff at Albion. Don't forget, this was one of the reasons the unloved North Stand had to go. The four day event had the cub stalwarts jumping through hoops to ensure the ground looked its best to welcome HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who is Commandant General of the Corps. Building on the experience of "Music in the Night" at the Citadel, RM 350 included demonstrations of military activity as well as martial, orchestral and rock music. Vintage naval aircraft provided a fly-past. The celebrations were to celebrate the close links between the Corps and the City, as well as raise money for RM and local charities. Our man around the ground, Tim Mitchell (noibla) was on hand to record the run-up and the event itself.
