From Friday 23 January, the organisation run by Plymouth Albion supporters to facilitate travel to away games will become "Albi Travel". This will be reflected in the Official Club Match Programme and Website. Albi Travel is now organising coach trips to support the team at the remaining four away games in the Championship this season. Martin Musgrave, Albi Travel Chairman said, "The reason for the change is to try and get more people to travel by not using the words member and club, as we have been told that this is putting some people off. We are seeking to maximise the numbers of fans cheering our heroes on at away matches and urge them to book with Albi Travel".
Albi Travel is a supporter-run initiative whose roots go back to Beacon Park days. Using modern coaches from Plympton-based Target Travel, fans can travel in comfort the considerable distances to the far-flung reaches of the Championship. With a variety of social activities en route (quiz, raffle, Try For a Tenner, etc), the miles fly past, allowing the Albion faithful to arrive in fine fettle (and voice!) for the fray. Costs are kept to a minimum and deals are often arranged to secure discounts on tickets at destination clubs. Nothing else will change and any amendments to current documentation will be proposed for agreement at the AGM later this year.
Martin (the stalwart who mans the Albi Travel Booking Booth at the Brickfields) adds, "Bedford is the first one of the remaining fixtures on the 7 February - come and join us! Bookings will be taken in the Supporters Marquee on the 31st at the home game against Rotherham."
For full details about booking, please see the Supporters page on the PARFC website (under Albi Travel). Any one wishing to go to Bedford can pre-book by e-mail to Book@supporterstravel.co.uk and pay on the 31st (or on the coach if not at the Titans game).
Martin's final plea to fans is to cement the change of name with a talisman to accompany supporters, "As we have re-branded to Albi Travel, we now need a mascot to travel with us on the coach. Please forward your ideas via the above e-mail address your ideas of a suitable mascot".

Just a thought about these supporters monthly lunches. Do you think they may be better attended if you held them on a Saturday instead of midweek, you may well get a lot more support for them and give a wider selection of fans the opportunity to attend them.
During the season it wouldn't be difficult to arrange them on away days or weekends where there is no play or even use the acronyms as it is usually empty on match days!
Another way of getting more fans together and more revenue for the club?

I think it may be cost - as during the week there is someone in the club to cook/serve etc, whereas at weekends it would cost for staff etc, think that's the reason why

Even maybe just a buffet with a fans get together, currently nearly every supporters events are run during the working week which drastically limits attendance.

with all due respect Labion, as far as I have been informed lunches were arranged by the 200 Club for members & supporters to use the club facilities during the week when the staff have the time to lay it on. I am not able to attend the lunches but they are popular with those who can! "To many cooks" comes to mind!!

Unfortunately Stonehouse albions article gives you some wrong information. The monthly lunches are arranged by the 200 club and members not only give a yearly subscription to belong they also pay for their lunches. The 200club was set up a few years ago now and to date has given over £32,000.00 to the club, it also made a donation to help pay for the new posts.

Albion nut as I wasn't aware of the facts behind the lunches and the 200 club connection. I merely made a suggestion, something that should be listened to and a considered answer given, as balion has done.I respect what the 200 club has done and admire them for that. One of the main reasons we don't join is due to most of their events being run on a working day. That though doesn't mean we don't applaud them for their achievements.
Your reply is noted albion nut, is this the way ahead to shoot down anyone with an idea to juggle around which may possibly gain revenue for the club. As there is no one about at weekends maybe its a case of "not enough cooks"! Then again if is the type of welcome we would receive from fellow supporters then maybe its best to just leave it to match days!!!

Labion, I agree to some extent, also there is room for improvement to "Supporters" meals on match days.
However just to clarify what the 200 club arranges. There is a monthly lunch open to all (not just 200 club). This is on a week day to provide some income to the club during the week, I'm not sure it would be feasible to run these weekends because of other committmenst at the club (weddings etc,), Apart from these weekday lunches there is usually mid-summer weekend lunch (or BBQ), end of season lunch and othe ad hoc events like Christmas lunch. Membership of the 200 club also means you go into the monthly draw for cash prizes.

Labion - my mum&dad attended last month - they are not members of the 200 club - I just emailed Vince and asked if they could attend - nice meal and company for about £8 a head
i know a while ago club tried to open at weekends - mainly Sunday lunch - no takers and i believe lack of numbers. Also tried for the 5 nations to show in clubhouse - again lack of numbers - maybe when the world cup comes to own - we will get a plan together to fill the clubhouse for a game ? worth an ask if we can get so many to turn up

Back on thread - why not support your team at Bedford. After all that is going on, and no matter what happens this week they need and deserve the support of as many as possible at all remaining games, home and away.
