The briefest of preiviews as a seat on the Albi Travel coach to Ampthill beckons. Our game today may well decide who finishes in the top three this season. Ampthill come in on the back of two very satisfactory results; a win against second place Hartpury and a draw against leaders Richmond. Our form against those teams would win in a poker hand, but it's very fine margins. Their team contains ex-Albion favourite Colin Gulliver and Eliot Clements-Hill - plus a very strong contingent of South Seas players. Their overall form is not quite as good as ours - they have fewer wins and a slightly lower PD.

On the Albion side, GD was bemoaning his constrained choices due to injury and non-availability. Herbie is skipper and Tom Putt has been recalled from Newton Abbot to be on the bench. We'll be well rested and doubtless as determined and plain cussed as ever. Too tight to call? Not quite - a narrow win to keep us on the tails of the top two, I reckon.
