Preview: Caldy v Albion
By Igwok
January 23 2019
This weekend sees Albion make the long journey up to The Wirral for their visit to Caldy RUFC.
Caldy are currently 2 places below Albion in the table and will be looking for a win that would take them away from the relegation zone.
Having had an impressive start to the season, Caldy have floundered in recent fixtures, losing all of their last 5 fixtures and against quite lowly opposition. In the meantime, Albion have chalked up 4 wins out of 5, again, facing lowly oppostion whilst losing only to table topping Ampthill. Furthermore, Albion are scoring just short of 4 tries a game in recent matches to Caldy's 2. Curiously, Caldy's Nicholas Royle (one of the league's leading try scorers) hasn't scored since November.
The weather forecast for the day suggests a chilly day with a fair bit of rain prior to the game which should diminish, accoumpanied by a moderate breeze.
The reverse fixture back in October saw Albion running in four tries against Caldy's two winning 24-14.
Forecast - considering Albion's erratic away results, weather conditions and the exposed nature of the pitch - a narrow win for Caldy.

I predict a win for Albion, but only 3 tries (and thus only 4 points)!
Guys, prove me wrong and get 5!!!

And the Caldy view...

I am intrigued by their "ravers" nickname. May they go out and rave long and heartily the day BEFORE the match.
Caldy Rfc have established themselves well in National 1, and play some very good rugby.
Any points on the road are welcome and are certainly earnt.
