What did you think of the new 50:22 kick - Rugby law trials

Well today we got to see the new 50:22 kick rugby law at the game against Exeter Uni. It got us a bit confused as we didn’t realised the new law was being trialled.
Must admit we were a little confused for the first one, thinking the assistant was pointing his flag the wrong way, but then someone shouted “50 22 rule” which made us look it up and talk about it. This improves players’ welfare as there will be fewer defenders in the front line, the defence line speed may be reduced and collisions may be less frequent and less impactful. seemed to us an easy way of the opposition keeping possession of teh ball to 'catch and drive' it in for a Try.

I would rather they leave well alone .I don't think all the tinkering is making for a better game.
Have they brought in the change for a ball held up over the try line being a drop out to the defending team rathe then a 5mtr scrum to the attacking team.

As for the 50-22; it's far too easy when compared with the original RL 40-20. Cov managed one, at least, gaining the throw-in, but the 40-20 is rarely successful due to the extra 12 metre distance.
Whatever, it's something that teams will quickly learn to cover fairly successfully I feel, but that may well serve the intended purpose of opening things up more as defences drop back from the line in anticipation.
I'm curious to see how it develops this season.

The 50-22 is clearly intended as a means to open up opportunities on the gain line by forcing defenders to cover the backfield.
