Round 11 Roslyn Park v Albion
By Dark Prophet
November 22 2024
Next game for Albion is "South of the River" at Rosslyn Park on Saturday.
Rosslyn sit in 4th place in the league, 6 points ahead of Albion who have slipped down to 8th.
This game should be targeted by Albion as a game to win as whilst Park have won 6 out of their last 7 games, their wins have come against teams lower than 7th in the league (mostly much lower). They lost to Birmingham Moseley on their last outing albeit by a point. Meanwhile, Albion have suffered 4 defeats on the trot with the last 3 against the top 3 sides, taking a losing BP in each.
To break the run of defeats, Albion will be desperate to take a win, even if it is away. If this means by 'winning ugly' then so be it. A five point win at this time is not important - scoring more than the opposition should be the only goal.
Park have scored 52 tries so far this season with the front row taking a high proportion and also quite a few from the scrum half and the wingers. Notably, they appear to weaken in the latter part of each half so it may be a case of Albion weathering the storm before taking the game to them.
Referee for the day will be Alan Chandrachud, who officiated at Albion's home game against Rams, where he controversially disallowed a potential game winning try for Albion. He also officiated at Rams last home game awarding them a narrow win against Bishop's Stortford and 2 yellow cards.
Weather forecast - A bit chilly with a fresh breeze gusting to gale blowing across the pitch. Increasing rain throughout the game will make things rather unpleasant. This looks to be a difficult day for the kickers which may not suit Albion's objectives.
Prediction - This could go either way. Form is on Park's side, as is recent history between the sides. In Albion's favour is comparison between the strength of opposition faced by the two sides, and a certain resolve to get a result. Another close game for Albion who could edge it.
