Connacht make Wilkinson signing.

Connacht Rugby announced the signing of 22 year old South African prop Brett Wilkinson. Brett joins from the University of Cape Town RFC(UCT) other wise known as the Ikeys.

As announced by our very own "Mystic Mulch" on the message board, Connacht Rugby today announced that they have signed promising 22-year old South Africa prop Brett Wilkinson as Mick Bradley beefs up his side for the start of the new season.  

Wilkinson joins Connacht from the University of Cape Town where he was coached by former Ulster boss Alan Solomons and player Robbie Kempson. Born in Grahamstown in the eastern Cape, he received a rugby bursary from the university of Cape Town. Wilkinson joins Connacht from UCT which is the alma mater of another current Connacht front rower Stephen Knoop who played forthe University side up to 2004.

"I made my debut for the University of Cape Town in 2004. At UCT RFC I was coached by Alan Solomons and Robbie Kempson and under them we did not lose a game and ended up top of the Western Cape Super A League in
2005.

"Just before I came over I was offered the chance to join the Western Province Currie Cup team, but I chose to come to Connacht instead.

"This is my first year as a pro rugby player and I am lookingforward to the season ahead with Connacht," said Wilkinson.
