Monty a top contender?
Panesar

Could Monty Panesar win BBC sports personality of the year? He certainly can as bookies have listed his odds as 10-1. But why do English cricket fans love him so much?
The English loving cricket fans have adored Andrew Flintoff, praised Kevin Pieterson and loved Michael Vaughan, but never have I seen a more loved spinner and possibly cricketer at the moment than the left arm spinner himself, Monty Panesar.
As a massive fan myself of Monty’s work, I see the light he has given the English cricket team. I have seen the admiration in players and fans eyes when he takes wickets and the laughter when he misses those important high 5’s.
Monty is no doubt loved, adored and been praised by journalists, interviewers and fans like myself so there’s no surprise that he is in contention for getting the BBC sports personality of the year and just might get it by following Freddie Flintoffs’ footsteps.
Whoever gets it I hope Monty knows one thing. Even with having just come into the cricket team, he is and always will be a legend in his own right!
Good luck Monty!
