One would say it was an accident waiting to happen. England were awarded 5 runs when Pakistan were accused of tampering with the ball, which added fuel to the fire as Pakistan then refused to come onto the pitch...
Collingwood and Bell were set to come onto the pitch to resume play but all went wrong when Pakistan refused to come on. The England batsman was allowed 5 penalty runs and a change of the ball, which then confirmed ball tampering, by Pakistan.
Daryll Hair then removed the bails from both stumps which could have suggested to others that Pakistan had for forfeited the match. Pakistan came back onto the pitch to the surprised of the umpires, fans, and commentators and everyone watching, however the umpires had already stopped play so Pakistan went back up.
An official statement said few words other than they will have a meeting immediately.
Earlier in the day Andrew Strauss (54) got out by lbw and Akmal caught Pieterson, who got 4 short of a century. Collingwood and Bell should have resumed play and may still resume tomorrow if any play will happen.
So, who knows what will happen? If you have missed today’s action then get round a friends house, watch on the Internet or try and listen to the news or commentary because the controversy of today was one not to be missed!
