Should Fletcher Go?

Geoffrey Boycott, a former batsman for England has spoke out about England's national coach saying Duncan Fletcher should step down as coach as he has reached the end of his ''shell-life.''

Fletcher led England to win the Ashes last year against the Aussies however since then it has been a roller coaster ride, with injuries and a poor England side losing to Australia just a couple of days ago. England are now out of the ICC Champions Trophy and with the Ashes not far away, should Fletcher step down?

We all know that England’s one day side have been poor for many years now, however with stats like England losing 19 out of 24 ODI matches and with the recent diabolical performances from England it has confirmed Boycotts feeling on Fletcher.

In 1999 Duncan Fletcher was appointed England coach, and since then he has led England to regain the Ashes but ODI’S have not been England’s strong point.

Boycott explains his feelings on the matter "I'm not saying he is a terrible coach. In fact, I think he has done a good job - full marks to him for the way he made England's Test team competitive after the dark days of the 1990s. However Saturday's latest one-day debacle has confirmed my feeling that the time has come for a change in the England dressing room."

Fletcher is currently on a rolling contract however will the recent poor display from England make sure Fletcher isn’t the national coach anymore? However, he has confirmed he will stay on until next years world cup.
