England to host the world cup

The ECB today confirmed that England will host the ICC Twenty20 World Championship in 2009 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. This will be a huge boost for a country of cricket lovers but we could get the tournament sooner than we expect.

The ECB today confirmed that England will host the ICC Twenty20 World Championship in 2009 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019.
After the fantastic ashes victory in the summer and more recently the outstanding one day international between South Africa and Australia, the tournaments should be full of exciting cricket. By then a lot of our players will have retired and new talent will be representing our team.

David Collier told the ECB official website of his delight.
"The UK," he added, "offers the benefits of world-class transport links, international hotels, excellent logistics, superb venues and a stage already set for Twenty20 cricket. The UK has also become renowned for its multi-ethnic crowds and a passion for Twenty20 cricket."
The fact that England has a lot of different ethnic backgrounds means each game should be a sell out.

ICC has invited ECB to host the Cricket World Cup in 2019 but if the Asian countries such as; Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka fail to produce a ‘compliant submission’ by April 21, 2006 for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup then ECB will be invited to host that event instead.
As the country who created the extremely popular 'twenty20 cricket' we should expect a great tournament with another delight for English fans as we face the Aussies in the ashes series that summer.
