Freddy Flintoff named as Worlds Leading Player

Andrew Flintoff will tomorrow become the first Englshman to be credited as the Leading Cricketer Of The World. The award, started two years ago by Wisden Cricketers' Almanack , which hits all good bookshops tomorrow has been previously won by Australians Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne.

In a tribute to the wonderful Ashes series of last summer, described by editor Matthew Engel as 'The Greatest Series', Shane Warne was a very close runner-up, while Matthew Hoggard, Simon Jones, Kevin Pietersen, Brett Lee and Ricky Ponting were named as the top 5 cricketers
