Strauss keen to continue captaincy

England stand-in skipper Andrew Strauss claimed today that he is prepared to continue to lead England into the upcoming Test's against Pakistan. With doubts persisting over Michael Vaughan's career, Strauss has openly thrown his name into the hat to be the Yorkshire man's permanent successor.

It is thought that stability wil the most important aspect when the selectors decide on the captaincy, and with Andrew Flintoff's ankle injury making him doubtful for the 1st Pakistan Test, it leaves the door open for ether Strauss or Marcus Trescothick to step into the gap. Strauss seemingly has the edge, after he captained Englands four ODI's against Sri Lanka. However, 4 defeats and a row of lacklustre perfomances may persuade the selctors to pick Trescothick
