Brighton made their mark on Division One yesterday with a 3-1 defeat of Burnley, despite the squad not containing ANY new players. Goals from Melton (Zamora assisting), Brooker, and Zamora made the damage to Burnley, who managed to get one back in injury time, despite being down to 10 men. Burnley player Gnohere was sent off for attacking Gary Hart in the 51st minute.

Brighton's win shows that 6the primary starting 11, largely unchanged since the Division 3 championship of to years ago, is strong enough for the First Division. The match also brought Bobby Zamora closer to getting his 60th goal for the club. If I have added up right, the goal he scored was his 59th, and the disallowed one would have made 60.
