A goal on his debut from new signing Wayne Gray, coupled with two goals from Richard Carpenter and a goal from Paul Brooker put Brighton joint top of the Second Division, due to Readings 3-3 draw at Bristol City. Colchester managed to pull a goal back through Stockwell near to the end. This result proves that the Seagulls can win without Bobby Zamora. The usual frontman, the highest scorer in the division, is absent due to a shoulder injury picked up at Notts County last weekend. This result is very god news to the clubs title challenge, as with only four matches remaining, the club has joined Reading at the top.
