Manager Peter Taylor has left the Seagulls in a shock move today, stating the lack of progress over Falmer as the main reason. Taylor, who took over from current Leicester City boss Micky Adams, led the Seagulls to their second successive championship. When asked by the BBC why he left, budgetary problems and the lack of a better stadium were his major reasons. He said that managed Brighton at Falmer would be one of the best jobs in football, but it was difficult to work at the Withdean. Under Taylor, Brighton played 40 league matches, and lost only 6. Taylor was not under contract with Brighton, and hence was free to leave at any time.
