Former Liverpool and Zimbabwe Goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar, has applied for the manager’s job at Brighton, among others. Grobbelaar, who was alleged of throwing matches while at Liverpool, played for many teams in England after leaving Liverpool, and finished his English playing career at Portsmouth, in 1998.

Grobbelaar has also applied for the vacant jobs at Stoke, Reading and Zimbabwe, and has said he will take whichever job he is offered first.

Other names, which have been mentioned in relation to the job, have been Graham Rix and Steve Coppell, both of whom have relatively good managerial experience. Other names, mentioned probably jokingly, on North Stand Chat have included David Ginola.

Despite Grobbelaar playing as a goalkeeper, he scored a goal for Crewe Alexandria, in the 1979/80 season. He also played for Stoke City, Southampton, Plymouth, Oxford and Oldham, before playing for Portsmouth, and then moving to the South Africa leagues.

As far as I remember, Grobbelaar later got his name cleared over the match fixing allegations.
