Ronnie claims he is looking to bring in a stopper

Ronnie Jepson looks to bring in another goalkeeper before the meeting of the Cobblers as cover for Jack. Jack couldn't even take the goal-kicks, reminding Ronnie the need of a new stopper.

Jack has been carrying an injury since the World Cup, but picked up another knock against the Bantams on Saturday.

The Gills have trialled former Man City keeper Murphy and former MK Dons regular Matt Baker before they were told they wouldn't be offered a contract. Baker was favourite to provide cover for Jack but obviously didn't do enough to impress Jepson.

Speaking after the game Jepson said, "He (Kelvin Jack) had a bang on his knee again and it is a concern. Hopefully in the week I’ll have another goalkeeper in."

Gillingham were without a goalkeeper after Jason Brown and Paul Crichton left the club before Jack signed from Dundee in the summer. Danny Knowles also left the club last season.

It is a completely different story to last season where we had too many stoppers. We had Brown, Banks, Bullock and Knowles before Banks left that summer for Hearts, Bullock left half way through last season for St. Mirren, Knowles was released in the summer and Brown departed in the summer for Premiership outfit Blackburn Rovers.
