Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson talks about defeat to Millwall and how he is stepping up his search for new players. It is the last week of the transfer window, and Ronnie Jepson has been working very hard to try and get in new blood at Priestfield.

Speaking to the BBC Ronnie said, " "Everybody's after a striker and if it's within the budget then great - but we can't go out and buy people.

"Me and my staff have been all over the country, phoning every manager in the Championship and Premiership, but we'll have to keep looking," said Gills boss Ronnie Jepson.

"We'll just have to see what's about and maybe do a bit of begging and borrowing and use the loan system. We're looking for all sorts to improve us."

The Gills crashed out of the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, after a two goals to one defeat at Tne New Den. Speaking about the Gills' fourth consecutive defeat this season Jepson said,"First half there was nothing in it and both teams were waiting for something to happen. We did that for them with that backpass, but full credit to their kid who finished well in the bottom corner."

"Second half it was an open game with both teams going forward, we had seven or eight corners and got a goal off one.

"But then once we get ourselves back in the game we are caught napping.

"That's annoying and we've got to defend better than that from set-plays.

"Both teams contributed to it being an open game and it was a change from the league so the lads went at it a little bit better, they were more open than normal.

"Overall there were some good points, but when you get beat by a set-piece when you've just got yourself back in the game it's disappointing.

"I also need a bit more work up front from certain players, which I'll get."
