Jepo: Not far off a promotion winning team

Ronnie Jepson has claimed that the Gills are about one or two players off of a side capable of gaining promotion back to the Championship. The Gills avoided a fifth consecutive defeat on Saturday and could have easily taken all three at the end.

Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson has told the Medway Messenger that he believes that the Gillss are only a few players off of a side to gain promotion back to the Championship.

Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu scored his first goal since signing for the Gills in the summer and secured a one goal a-piece stalemate at Bloomfield Road. Speaking about the game Ronnie said, "We’ve got a point and it stops the rot and hopefully we can continue and make a bit more progress now. We changed it around and hopefully the lads will get a bit of confidence from that."

With the transfer window close, Ronnie will be busier then ever to try and bring in new players. The Gills have been linked with many players, but have been beaten due to other clubs coming in offering money the Gills can't compete with. Speaking about the transfer situation Ronnie said, "We’re maybe one or two players away from having a promotion-winning team. But also at the same time we are two or three players short and you’re always looking over your shoulder. We will keep working at it, working hard and we will see where it takes us."
