Deadline Day Deal Unlikely

Gillingham have made a bid for one player but it nows looks unlikely for that to go through. Jepson has already claimed that he is more keen on waiting until the closure of the transfer window to go for loan signings instead.

Ronnie Jepson has today claimed that he made a bid for a striker last night, but that is all that has been said on the matter. Ronnie seems to be more keen on waiting for the end of the transfer window to target loan signings. Speaking during the thursday news conference Ronnie Jepson said, "We put a bid in for a player yesterday. I am just waiting to hear back from the Chairman and hopefully he has got some Ronnie Jepsongood news for me today with the bid being accepted and then we can sort a deal out. I'm not trying to kid anyone, I am just waiting on that one at this moment in time. We have put in an offer for him, he will cost a few quid but he'll be our player.

Jepson also revealed his failure in bringing in Burnley striker Gifton Noel-Williams to the club. He said "We tried to sign Gifton Noel-Williams on loan last week but we couldn't afford his wages. Those are the problems that you have sometimes. You try and identify players. The supporters out there are quite knowledgable and they could tell me a million players to sign. I would be in agreement but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, the financial package and wages we can afford, then it becomes a bit of a stumbling block. We found that out in pre-season and I've been finding that out with players that I am trying to get in on loan.

He is keen to wait to sign a player on loan due to the financial situation, speaking about that matter Jepo told the media, "I'm sure we'll get more progress with that once the window closes. Perhaps some players that don't feature at their respective clubs, the club will look to sell them. If they haven't sold them by midnight tonight, then maybe they will be looking to send one or two players out on loan. With our financial predicament, that is the road that we are looking at. I'm looking to fill positions with anything that can add quality to the side and improve us. I looked into that market last year when I was given the job and I managed to sign Tommy Black, who did well for us, so hopefully I can get another one or two in to improve us. It all comes down to finances again."

So far the Gills have managed to hold onto their big names of Brent Sancho, Andrew Crofts and Matt Jarvis. Jepson has claimed that no bids have been made for any of his players so far. But their are strong rumours that their could be a swap deal involving Andrewe Crofts and Tommy Black.
