Scally reveals two deadline day bids

Paul Scally revealed in his match programme notes that he made two deadline days bids. Meanwhile Gills boss Ronnie Jepson revealed one of those bids made by Scally who he tried to get on deadline day.

Paul Scally revealed in his programme notes that he in fact bidded for two players on deadline day but failed in his attempts.

He wrote, "At the time of going to pressing (match programme) we were trying our utmost to secure the services of one or two new players on transfer deadline day. It is always difficult to work in the current market place though, with more agents dictating teir players futures with the sole intention of gaining for themselves." He then continued to speak about agents.

Meanwhile Ronnie Jepson revealed the identity of one of the targets. The talks broke down on Thursday between our chairman and their chairman. I am not going to look for excuses. I never have done. We haven't got the lad in and we have to go with what we got. These things happen so I just have to get on with it.

"I think the press know that the lad was the centre-forward Adebayo Akinfenwa from Swansea City. I don't usually discuss these things until the deal is done as I wouldn't want to be disrespectful to Swansea Manager Kenny Jackett. He would have been a good addition to us. I asked to take him on-loan a few weeks ago and then it was for a fee. I don't know how it stands now and we'll have to wait and see, but I wanted him as a permanent player."
