Bas Savage signs on

Bas Savage has signed a three month deal for Gillingham. Unattached Savage, has scored just one goals in his carreer. Savage becomes the fourth Gillingham striker to sign under Ronnie Jepson after impressing The Gills boss in his second trial of the season at Gillingham.

Bas Savage was rumoured to be close to signing for The Gills earlier this season, only for an ankle injury to prevent it. Savage has also had unsuccessful trial spells at Shrewsbury Town, Crewe and Hartlepool United this season.

Savage started his career at Reading four years ago before moving to Bury and Wycombe on loan. Savage then moved to Bristol City where he made two appearences against the Gills last season.

The 6"3" 24 year old though has scored LESS, yes less goals then Gary Mulligan in his career. The big man has only found the net once in his entire career of fourty eight league goals.

Some Gills fans may remember seeing the big man play for the Gills in Andy Hessenthaler's testmonial where he played twenty minutes but didn't have to much of the ball to show what he could do.

Speaking about the signing Ronnie Jepson said, "We'll have a good look at him and if he's anything then we'll sort him out and if not then we've not lost anything.

"It gives us another option and another body to work with because we need that."
