Gillingham v Cheltenham

Gillingham host Cheltenham on Saturday with doubts over the fitness of Gillingham's star man Matty Jarvis. Jarvis hasn't trained since the disappointing draw with Leyton Orient. Bas Savage is also in the squad and could make his squad.

Jarvis is yet to train with the Gills squad after scoring in the three all draw with Leyton Orient on Tuesday night. New signing Bas Savage could well make his debut replacing Matty Jarvis upfront. Gary Mulligan was left out of the sixteen who played the O's after suffering from a chest injury. Duncan Jupp should return to the side following missing out on the trip to London.

Trindadian duo Brent Sancho and Kelvin Jack are still sidelined with knee injuries.

Finnigan is serving a three match suspension. Higgs, Gillespie, and Vincent are all struggling with long-term injuries.

Managers Views

Ronnie Jepson views: "Cheltenham have had a bit of a bad run so they will be coming here trying to get back on track. We have seen them two or three times so we will work on things, like we did before the game the other night, and hopefully we can get the three points. If we can play like we did the other night for the first 75 minutes, and sustain it, it will be a good game and one we can hopefully get three points from.

"Bas Savage will be part of the squad on Saturday. He is training with us and we have given him a short contract. Bas is a good lad, is with us until Christmas and nobody can lose out. We can have a look at him, he can have a look at us and we'll take it from there. "Bas played against us last season for Bristol City and he caused us problems. I spoke to Steve Coppell about him and he speaks highly of him. Bas has been a bit inconsistent. On his day, he can be as good as anybody. It is just nice to give me another option."

John Ward views: "Gillingham have a good manager in Ronnie Jepson and they will be organised and up for a fight. They will look to focus on the positive goalscoring aspects of their team and so will we. What we should not do is change things dramatically just because we are in this little spell," Ward told Robins World.

"Football is not logical. Gillingham were 3-0 up at Leyton Orient and playing well, then Orient's left back got a hat-trick in 11 minutes. What's logical about that?

"Gillingham can score as they proved in that game, but they will also have areas they will be concerned about. If we can get into their back four enough, there will be opportunities for us to score goals."
